ICC-ES Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity Orange County in Construction of Residential Homes for the Needy

ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Orange County (Habitat OC) on November 10 in Santa Ana, California for a day of team building and charitable contribution. Donning safety hats and protective eyewear, the ICC-ES team stepped out of their typical day job roles and got ready to work in construction building homes. Alongside the Habitat OC crew and volunteers, the ICC-ES team assisted in the construction of two single-family homes through various tasks. These future homes are part of Habitat’s vision of making affordable homeownership accessible to families in need.

Joining the Habitat OC home build allowed the ICC-ES team to engage with the community and contribute towards new affordable housing opportunities. Some team members experienced setting foot on a construction site for the first time, while others mastered their hammering technique or learned to perfect a measurement before cutting.

“The ICC-ES team is excited for this opportunity to partner with Habitat for Humanity to serve our community alongside their amazing crew and volunteers,” said Melissa Sanchez, ICC-ES Senior Staff Engineer.

The International Code Council is focused on building safety worldwide and provides a wide range of building safety solutions, including product evaluation, accreditation, certification, codification and training. ICC-ES is the industry leader in performing technical evaluations of building products, materials and systems for code compliance. The ICC-ES team comprised of technical experts and business professionals is unified in its commitment to constructing safe, sustainable, affordable and resilient buildings.
