Market Entry into Australia Made Easier with an ICC-ES Evaluation Report

Focus on global solutions guides company’s expansion efforts

Brea, Calif. – Adding to the long list of benefits of having an Evaluation Service Report (ESR), manufacturers can now also use ICC-ES ESRs to facilitate market entry in Australia.

ESRs produced by ICC-ES can be considered by authorities having jurisdiction in Australia, at their discretion, as achieving evidence of suitability under provision A5.2 in National Construction Code (NCC). ESRs are similar to European Technical Assessments (ETAs) which the Australian Engineered Fastener and Anchor Council (AEFAC) accepts for performance-based design.

The NCC provides the minimum necessary requirements for safety, health, amenity and sustainability in the design and construction of new buildings (and new building work in existing buildings) throughout Australia. Fundamentals of the International Building Code (used in the U.S) are aligned with requirements of the NCC, allowing for a synchronized evaluation process.

“We are excited that ICC-ES evaluation reports maintain this important recognition in Australia, and are pleased to add another global solution for our customers,” said ICC-ES President Shahin Moinian, P.E.

Manufacturers should be encouraged by this increased harmonization in the area of code compliance to seek opportunities to access market entry in Australia. ICC-ES is available to help streamline the process and provide a one-stop shop for testing, listing and evaluation service.
